Meet Matt Bossi, one our tour guides at Connecticut Beer Tours. He is the perfect example of the saying…”It’s the quiet ones you got to watch out for.” Easy going and laid back with a sarcastic side that will surprise you.
Q1. Matt, how did you get into craft beer?
Visiting local breweries was always a go-to spot to connect with friends. I really appreciate how many of the places I visited had a very relaxed environment with great quality beer. Eventually, visiting as many breweries as possible and trying every style of beer possible became somewhat of a hobby.
Q2. What do you like best about being beer tour guide with CT Beer Tours?
I appreciate that you never really know what the day will have in store. A group of total strangers that hop on at the beginning of the day are quickly exchanging numbers and planning their next trip together by the end of the trip. A brewery can unexpectedly offer a tour or free samples. The most senior person on the trip “who only drinks Budweiser” out-drinks everyone else. An arm wrestling competition breaks out. You just never know what will happen, but it is always a great time.
Q3. What is one of your most memorable moments as a tour guide?
One memorable trip I had was a bachelor party with a bunch of guys from Long Island. It was such a fun (and loud) trip. Let me tell you, when we arrived at each stop, everyone knew! The guys were not familiar with the area, so they really appreciated the tour. It’s hard to pinpoint one moment, but this tour had everything you could want; GREAT weather, seemingly endless samples of beer, cornhole and excellent pizza.
Q4. If you were to be stranded on a desert island and could only bring with you one beer – which would it be?
I’m not sure if my taste in beer would lend itself to desert island life, but I would say Back East Brewings’ Ice Cream Man. Whenever I see it, I buy it.
Q5. CT Beer Tours has an array of personalities – what do you offer a group of passengers that makes you unique and different?
I think that most people would say that I am easy-going and laid-back. This persona helps me adapt throughout the day and connect with everyone. With that said, my sarcastic side will come out which can surprise people. Like everyone at CT Beer Tours, I will make sure to accommodate you in any way possible during your trip even if it is the smallest detail.
